Students of FIN 4335,
My name is Charles Hooker and I am President of the Alpha Pi chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma at Baylor. Gamma Iota Sigma is a risk management and insurance organization focused on “shaping the industry’s future through talent.” As a club, we host speakers in the insurance industry, network with professionals, host workshops, and attend national conferences and career fairs. Many of our junior and senior members in recent years have received internships and full-time job offers from insurance companies at these career fairs. While most of our members are RMI majors, we have other members who are majoring in a wide range of fields, from Psychology to Supply Chain Management. Even if you are not an RMI major, feel free to reach out to me (Charles_Hooker1@baylor.edu) if you are interested in joining.
This year, due to COVID-19, the 49th Annual International Conference will be held online from Thursday, September 24th to Friday, September 25th. The agenda consists of career fairs on both Thursday and Friday as well as educational sessions on Friday afternoon. The topics of these educational sessions include “Resilience: Insurance Industry Response to COVID-19” and “With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility: Promoting Ethics and Fighting Bias in Data,” as well as two others. If you are interested in either of these topics or insurance in general and would like to attend the conference, email me as soon as possible as registration ends Friday, September 11th at 11am CST.
Hope to see you there!
